Considered among the finest designers and manufacturers of oboes, F. Loreé Paris’ quality and superiority extends to other instruments including the English Horn. This firm was founded in rich tradition with a commitment to innovation and has remained largely within the same two families. The result is a remarkable heritage of quality.
Founded in 1881 by François Lorée, this firm is the oldest to specialize in designing and manufacturing oboes. The firm was passed on to Lorée’s son, Lucien, who worked with a prominent teacher at The Paris Conservatoire, Georges Gillet, to develop and enhance the oboe. Various advancements were made to the instrument by these two men including the Conservatory Plateau System. In 1925, the company was acquired by Raymond DuBois but Lucien Lorée’s involvement was maintained. Today the firm is managed by Alain de Gourdon who is related to DuBois.
This established, family company manufactures all of its instruments in a factory in Manganville. The rich historic tradition behind these oboes, English Horns, and other instruments is enhanced by the most advanced technology. Each instrument undergoes its final tests and adjustments at the company’s workshop in Paris.
Admired and used by many professional musicians, F. Lorée Paris oboes include the Paris Professional Oboe.
