I have tried several mouthpieces for my St. Pete 209N rotary valve CC tuba. I have been using a Faxx 18 now for a couple of years, and it works great from high range, down to low pedal range.
It slots well, and produces a centered, in tune tone.
I am not sure this mouthpiece will be ideal for beginner's, because you do have to be very careful differentiating between pitches, which is a problem for most beginner's. It took me about four years to give up my Shilke 69C4, and decide I could play cleaner runs, faster passages, and clear high notes, and pedal notes with authority.
I don't think you can beat it for the price, and a good all rounder.
Good mouthpiece I have had this one for 3 years.
As usual, Faxx mouthpiece has very good quality,& comes with a heavy duty plastic mouthpiece pouch.
I have Faxx mouthpieces for small and large shank trombone, and Tuba. I have found they quality to be as good as the Vincent Bach's they copy, for about half the price!
Wish they would offer more models!!
