Fender Deluxe P Bass Special 4-String BassThe Fender Deluxe P Bass Special 4-String Bass has a Jazz neck, a P Bass body, and a P/J combination pickup array with Vintage Noiseless pickups and active electronics. The P body is a little smaller and lighter, the J neck slimmer and faster, and the combined pickups give you just that much more to play with. A gold vinyl pickguard sets the Deluxe P Bass apart visually, and its satin-finish neck feels worn in from the get-go.

The bass is a very affordable and can get the best of every Fender you just have if you know how! I've played it with a Hartke combo kickback, and a Peavey but I found that the Galien Krueger 800 delivers the best results. This bass is really worth it. As a musician you have to know about amps and accessories to make your bass sound better. BOTTOM line I have a great bass!
I will never give up this instrument. I got 4 other basses, but nothing compares to my active P-bass.
Purchased the bass for tone, playability and price in that order. I have since gigged with it a few times and it sounds fantastic. I am so glad I opted for another active electronics bass instead of going with one of its more expensive, passive "American cousins"! The guitar did require a bit further set-up however. Keeping it in tune was an issue, as was the height of the pick up below the strings. I opted for the maple fret board and I have no regrets. It punches through whenever I need to reach for the highs and has no problem giving me clear, solid low end. The neck is fast and comfortably familiar right from the start. It has a "vintage playability" about it that I love. I get all kinds of compliments on the black and gold as it is an unusual combination but it makes the guitar look like a million bucks! Great bass for the money. (4.5 Out of 5)
This bass is outstanding. The tones you get off the active pickups are incredible. I also have the Fender Aerodyne Jazz. The rest of my bass collection is all neck thru bodies, Rick 4003, Schecter, Jackson and Ibanez Artcore. I love the sounds of both the Fenders, but the P-bass Special is hard to beat. The classic looks and the tones and punch even with the bolt on neck are amazing! I would recommend this bass to anyone. The free gig bag is nice, but you want a hard shell case for this bass. I can't wait to play live with this one. It truly is hard to put down. I also got the maple neck with maple fingerboard really plays nice with great action and I did not have any height adjustments to make.
I always liked the look of a P-Bass......but I didn't like the sound or the chunky neck.............. Well along comes the Fender Active P-Bass Special Deluxe......this is a awesome bass! In a nut shell, it is a P-Bass with an additional jazz pickup near the bridge and a jazz profile neck. It has an active three band EQ. It has a real fat low end when you need it or that classic jazz sound when you use the bridge PU. With both PUs on it has a rich full sound. If you like Jazz necks, this bass has a Jazz neck profile. Not chunky like most P-Basses. It really is the BEST of both worlds!...... This bass is a great finger style bass and slap monster! The P-Bass Special has the snap and bright highs that I found missing on many other basses.............. This is a MIM bass, and I got to tell you this sucker is built like a tank! The fit and finish is perfect as well as the fret work. The setup out of the box was pretty darn good, but I got the action even lower without any buzzing. I got mine with a maple fretboard. It is a bit heavy, so if that is a concern, this bass might not be for you. But, besides that, this is one kickin' Fender!!!
