"Good Viola for the Price"

I received this viola about a week ago and took it to a repair shop immediately after reading horror stories about the problems people have had with less expensive violas purchased over the internet. There were no problems with it at all structurally and it was set up correctly. Maybe I got lucky. The strings were really low quality though, and one of them broke while the luthier was tuning it. I purchased D'Arddario Preludes for back ups. I played it and the tone was very nice, the case, bow, and rosin were fine as well. I think the value is amazing even if you have to get new strings because you are still saving hundreds of dollars on a beginning instrument which typically costs between $350 and $800. So this instrument is beautiful and playable, it is a great beginning student viola at a fraction of the price.

This is a great student viola for the price. It arrived already set up but I took it to a luthier to look over it for potential repairs. There was nothing wrong with it. He tuned it and one of the strings broke because the strings that came with it were really low quality. The string was replaced and it plays just fine. The case, bow and rosin were fine as well. This is great for any beginning student or for personal enjoyment. I am very pleased with it.
