I bought this violin for myself when I had to start teaching orchestra. This violin is a fine instrument for a student. It actually would even be fine for a HS student who wasn't THAT serious about it... who wants to drop $500+ on an instrument that's going to be put in a box in 3 years? This violin fulfills the need without breaking the bank. Be sure to buy some peg drops... my pegs wouldn't stay put when I got it.
I just recieved my violin and I made a very good choice. I played 30 years ago in High School and this one is just like or better than the one I played with. Good sound nice bow. You would have to take light sand paper to the pegs and you are good to go. It also looks like an expensive piece. You are not going to fine a better deal in my opinion. I never write reviews. Thanks.
My love for this violin is beyond words! At 60 years old, I'm a beginner on violin. My budget is extremely limited, so the price attracted me immediately. I played it in the store, and was very impressed with the tone -- much more mellow than I'd expected. I purchased the 3/4 size (since I'm short, with correspondingly short arms), and it's very comfortable to play. I especially like the chin rest -- it's much more comfortable than many I've tried. I ordered a 3/4-size KUN shoulder rest (which should arrive any day). I'm sure it will add to the overall pleasure of playing.
I decided to upgrade to a set of Dominator strings to warm up the sound even more. The sales person at the store changed the strings for me, and applied peg drops. He also recommended starting the Suzuki violin series, so I'm firmly entrenched in Book I, and loving every minute of it!
Everything I've seen and heard in regard to this violin has shown much higher quality than one would expect in this price range. The instrument is visually lovely, and the entire package (violin, bow and case) has turned out to be all I could hope for, and more!
I recommend this Violin perfect for any beginner Student. Beautiful Sound and cosmetic finish and what a great deal this was my first violin Glad I found this Hot Deal on WWBW I m very happy with my purchase.
I just received this in the mail last week and I am in love! I think that this is a great violin. I had my choir instructor (also a violin player) check it out and she thought it was great too! The only problem I have with the instrument is that the E string broke when I tried to tune it but that's probably only happened to me. Also I bought the 99? pocket rosin and when I opened the case it had the exact same rosin, but hey, atleast now I have extra! Other than those two things I have not had any problems with the instrument. In my opinion it's extremely beautiful compared to other violins of higher cost.
It's a decent violin I like the spruce top very much it's very good for music quality in a violin... this is very good for a student.
I purchased a 3/4-size Florea Recital II and returned it a few days later. The many structural defects (as pointed out by a reputable luthier) were overwhelming (badly twisted neck, cracked fingerboard, big lump in the fingerboard, wood-filler flaking away between neck and fingerboard, etc.). The E-string was totally unplayable. I'm reasonably sure that all of the Florea Recital II violins wouldn't be this bad, but if you buy one, be sure to have it checked out by a luthier! And plan on having the bridge replaced as soon as possible -- not enough arch on the original. And peg drops are going to be a MUST!!
If there's any way you can afford a Knilling Perfection II or a Bellafina (I think the Bellafina model number is 50), either would be a much more satisfactory choice!
On the positive side, WWBW handled the situation to my complete satisfaction, and I still love shopping there!
When I first got this violin, the price was so low, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Once I got enough rosin on the bow (Using an emery board on the block is quicker & more helpful), the fun really began. The bow has a nice feel to it. The violin itself has a very treble- ish sound that goes rather well with jazz, blues & traditional fiddle music. Think of a gypsy violinist. That's the type of sound this makes. I love it. If you don't want quite so much treble, a rubber mute on the bridge tones it down. Adjusting the mute's height will also adjust the amount of treble, as well as volume. It doesn't come with shoulder rest, so you'll want to add it onto the purchase. I'm 52 years old, and have played guitar for over 40 years, so to me playing the violin is a kick anyway (just recently heard the music of Grapelli, Venuti, South, Smith, & Ponty which was my inspiration). Let me put it to you this way. If I was a youngster that had a desire to learn the violin, and I found this as one of my gifts, I would be thrilled. It is built well enough to learn on, and priced low enough not to break the bank.
I bought this violin in 1/8 size for my 5 year old son who is just learning to play. His teacher checked-out the violin and was happy with it. The instrument looks beautiful and he is very excited about it and loves to show us all he is learning. I have ordered another one in 1/4 size, for later, because they are such an incredible deal.
I love this violin its a perfect deal without having to spend a fortune. Beautiful cosmetic finish.
Excellent for beginners and agreeable for high school level students. Nice bow and case. I highly recommend this violin its an incredible deal!!! Wow
