I became apprehensive about this violin after I read several articles cautioning violin patrons away from non European manufactured violins and purchasing instruments over the internet. I was so apprehensive that I wasn't going to open the box but immediately return it and buy from a luthier. I am so glad I opened the box. This is a great instrument for the price. I haven't played violin since High School so I didn't know if I would be able to get a sound out of it but it was easy to play even with the steel strings. The case, bow and rosin are much better than I expected especially for the price. I plan on keeping this violin, I am extremely pleased with it. This is great for beginning students and adults who want to play for their own personal enjoyment. It is a fantastic deal!
When I first got this violin, the price was so low, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Once I got enough rosin on the bow (Using an emery board on the block is quicker & more helpful), the fun really began. The bow has a nice feel to it. The violin itself has a very treble- ish sound that goes rather well with jazz, blues & traditional fiddle music. Think of a gypsy violinist. That's the type of sound this makes. I love it. If you don't want quite so much treble, a rubber mute on the bridge tones it down. Adjusting the mute's height will also adjust the amount of treble, as well as volume. It doesn't come with shoulder rest, so you'll want to add it onto the purchase. I'm 52 years old, and have played guitar for over 40 years, so to me playing the violin is a kick anyway (just recently heard the music of Grapelli, Venuti, South, Smith, & Ponty which was my inspiration). Let me put it to you this way. If I was a youngster that had a desire to learn the violin, and I found this as one of my gifts, I would be thrilled. It is built well enough to learn on, and priced low enough not to break the bank.
I love this violin its a perfect deal without having to spend a fortune. Beautiful cosmetic finish. Excellent for beginners and agreeable for high school level students. Nice bow and case. I highly recommend this violin its an incredible deal!!! Wow
I just purchased this violin last 2 weeks.I'm just the beginner so i don't have knowledge about this instrument.Well, when i first got it.It smells very strong( new violin ).smelling is not the problem cause it disappeared after than like 1 week. Then I tried to tune it but the strings arenot durable enough. They are broken. So I brought it the music center in my town. She said that just looking, she already know how bad the strings are.So I decided to spend 35 bucks for strings. Then the bridge is kinda weird and not appropiate located.but it's working. The case is the one that i'm concerned now.I 'm thinking about buying new case but i need to make sure it's the best thing for me.I think for the beginner this violin would be fine cause you gotta spend some money for fixing when you break cause you are the beginner.
I bought this violin in 1/8 size for my 5 year old son who is just learning to play. His teacher checked-out the violin and was happy with it. The instrument looks beautiful and he is very excited about it and loves to show us all he is learning. I have ordered another one in 1/4 size, for later, because they are such an incredible deal.
