This English Horn is so popular, its almost never in stock. Since this was my first English Horn, I asked a 40 year symphony oboist and a professional reed maker to evaluate it. They were impressed and surprised that it was made of plastic. The sound and intonation are great. It is equivalent to the Fox 330 oboe in keys which I also own and also impressed both of these oboists. I found it easy to play and it will allow me to play parts of which an oboe-only player could not.

I have found this instrument to be of the finest craftsmanship. With the ease of playing and the fact the Fox takes extreme care when it comes to making there instruments.

At first I was going back and forth between this horn and the 520. I'm glad I finally decided on this one. This horn is perfect! It plays beautifully, the keywork is very comfortable under the fingers. The mechanism is silent compared to most horns out there. The tone is beautiful and has that haunting soulfulness that is the standard with english horns. The case and cover provided with the horn are very high quality as well. Overall this is a wonderful instrument, the horn I've always wanted. Honestly, the extra keywork on the 520 and other models is definitely not needed. How often do you need the 3rd octave key on an english horn anyway? For the price that you pay, you get one amazing instrument that you don't have to worry about cracking. You can just sit and play it and enjoy it. I would buy this horn again in a heartbeat.

"A great treat to play"

I'm very pleased with my #555 Fox EH. Best of all with a tuner, it plays dead on with each note and has a very nice tone/sound to boot. Didn't want to spend the money for a high grade EH, yet needed to get one to play some musicals in local shows. The quality of the instrument seems to be excellent. It exactly fits my needs and plays beautifully also.
