I was always using the little oboe reed cases that the reeds came in until I decided to purchase one of these. It's the perfect size, fits right inside my case. It also has a thick layer of velvet on the inside of it so that nothing happens to the reeds. Now that I finally have one, I know where all my reeds are and don't have to worry about them being squished or broken.
I purchased this case because I was tired of using the litttle ones that the reeds came in. The case fits right inside my instruments case and the layer of velvet protects the reeds. A great case I recommend to everyone.
Great size, but everytime I open it I find that my reeds have slipped of the white posts and are all clumped together in such random ways I am completely amazed they were able to move that much. I am back on here to get a new case. But from the reviews above me maybe you'll have better luck. But I strongly wncourage you NOT to get this.
The reeds are never firmly secured and tips get destroyed very easily. Spend a few more dollars on a better case and save money and headache down the road.
I've been using this case for about a year now for general, everyday use. Manufactured reeds fit nicely in it and I rarely have to worry about them slipping off and getting jostled around. However, I have had some trouble with home-made reeds, due to the staple being a little larger than the usual mass-produced oboe reed. The larger staple causes the reeds to improperly fit, therefore I end up with reeds that have slid off the holder (and have broken). I would recommend this case to any beginning oboe players, as they generally will use manufactured reeds, rather than home-made. For the low price, this is a great case.
