OVERVIEW

It sounds as beautiful as it looks.

Fox Renard 222 is a great choice for new bassoonists and school music programs. Fox/Renard is one of the premier manufacturers of fine double reed instruments in the world. Introduced in 1971, the reasonable price and durable wooden body has made the Renard Model 222 bassoon a popular choice for new bassoonists and school music programs looking to add a wood body instrument to their bassoon section. The long bore design' warm tone and excellent intonation make it a rare value.

The long bore body is constructed of sugar maple, selected for maximum durability and naturally aged. Durable synthetic linings in the wing joint and small bore of the boot joint engender it with the ability to undergo the rigors a student instrument sometimes endures. It is nicely apportioned with a German bell (white ring), body lock, and an acrylic enamel finish.

it additionally features nickel-silver keys with silver plating and Full German system. Plateau key on wing joint third finger hole. Rollers on F, Ab, Eb, and Db. Metal tubes extending into the bore in the finger holes of the wing joint to prevent water from entering the tone holes. Spring posts locked with screws. It is individually hand tuned for maximum resonance and projection.

Two bocals are included. Numbers 2 and 3, C Bore. The Renard 222 ships with a fine plush-lined case, neck strap, crutch, 2 drop swabs, seat strap.

The Fox warranty provision includes the generous offer that within one year, the instrument may be returned to the factory for fine-tuning, acoustical adjustment, and mechanical servicing, with costs limited to freight and parts.

Great Bassoon!

Comments about Fox Renard Model 222 Bassoon:

This bassoon was my first experience in the world of bassoons and all I can say is that I loved every minute of it! This bassoon is super forgiving in it's sound, it made me sound better than a beginner. It is super mellow and plays beautiful pianissimo, but can still play fortissimo if the passage calls for it. The keys were easy to work and worked like a charm. I love that it came with two bocals because there were some reeds that needed that adjustment without me having to go out and buy one. I felt that the construction was very sturdy and I was not afraid of falling to pieces, considering how cheap it is compared to many bassoons on the market. It stood the test of time as I carried it to band rehearsals, ensemble rehearsals, practiced solo music, and church music rehearals. Sadly, I was renting my college's bassoon and it is not mine. I hope one day to buy this great instrument and own it for myself.

Comments about Fox Renard Model 222 Bassoon:

I have played on many bassoons while I was looking to buy my own. This horn was the best one for the price range I was looking at. I was playing on my schools schreiber and sohne bassoons and they were super old and couldnt hit anything below a low F and anything above a high Bb. The first time I played the Fox Renard Model 222 Bassoon I almost cried! My tone immediately was improved and it was alot easier to hit all the notes throught my range. If your looking for a bassoon for a cheap price I would definately go with this one. You wont be sorry!

Wow!

Comments about Fox Renard Model 222 Bassoon:

I went to my school today (a performing arts high school) in hopes of renting a new bassoon. My ancient Linton certainly wouldn't last long there. I walked away with this, their best school instrument, and I'm ecstatic. It'll take me a while to get used to the whisper key lock, but otherwise remarkable. I love the tone, and it's a lot easier to produce fluid dynamics. I'm hoping that this bassoon (along with some practice) will get me into the LYO Symphony Orchestra this fall! When I told my teacher (a veteran orchestral player and die-hard Moosmann fanatic) about receiving this bassoon, he told me I was really lucky. I can see why!

These are magnificent intruments

Comments about Fox Renard Model 222 Bassoon:

These bassoons are truly impeccable. The action is smooth and crisp, with no sluggish springs or pads, and a shiny nickel silver finish that requires no polishing. The pads are durable and well-sealing, and last for a long period of time before drying out. The finish of the instruments is simplistically beautiful. It is a vibrant burnt red stain over an attractive natural grain, with a durable and shiny laquer over the top. As far as the sound goes, it is rich, warm and round, with a big, focused feel to it. The high register really sings out, especially with a CVX bocal.
