I've tried these strings on different guitars that used maple and alder for bodies and necks. In the end I didn't really like the result. It sounded too bright and high. For those guitars I usually use different types of GHS Boomers. I then put the DM Signature Progressive strings on my Washburn Idol WI64DL that has a set mahogany body and neck with a rosewood fretboard, and it sounds great. The progressives sound more the idol. They also last much longer (2-4 months) than the Boomers or the Ernie Balls. From what I gathered, the strings probably sound and play better with guitar that has a heavier wood like mahogany and rosewood or ebony. For the gauges I recommend the Dave Mustaine Signature, not just because he is a great guitarist, but that gauge is similar to the TNT Boomers that have heavier strings on the low strings and regular strings on the high strings. Kind of a "Best of Both Worlds" type of thing.
