OVERVIEW

Top-quality in-ear monitoring from the mixing console to the stage.

If you have been curious about a personal in-ear monitoring system, the Galaxy Audio AS-1800 system with EB10 earbuds may be just what you are looking for. Initially known for their legendary mic stand-mounted monitoring system the Hot Spot, Galaxy Audio has been in the business of improving stage sound for decades.

This version of the AS-1800 system consists of an AS-1800T transmitter along with an AS-1800R belt-pack receiver, and a set of EB10 earbuds. This is Galaxy Audio's top-quality system and is appropriate for professional touring bands. The AS-1800 system puts pro quality in-ear on-stage monitoring in the hands of bands and musicians who have to keep technical improvements within a reasonable budget.

There is a reason why most professional touring acts use in-ear monitoring. Actually, there are several reasons. Control over the mix in real time, control over volume in real time for both clarity and hearing protection, and an uncluttered stage are a few of the obvious quantifiable ones, but the real reason is qualitative: the sound. If you have ever recorded in a studio and had the perfect mix, EQ and audio quality in your headphones while you sang, imagine having that level of intimate awareness of the subtleties of your performance in a live setting.

Your harmonies will be much better, and your lead vocal will be able to communicate nuance that is often left out because a performer can't adequately monitor those kinds of subtleties from a wedge monitor on a loud stage. Once you go in-ear, you'll never go back to wedges.

One very important aspect of the AS-1800 System is the Mixed Mono feature. With Mixed Mono the performers can have their vocals in Input 1 and the band mix in Input 2 and adjust the volume of each independently to create their own personal mix, or you can send two different monitor mixes from the board so each performer can decide which mix they want to hear on their belt pack.

A lot has happened in professional sound reinforcement both in terms of front-of-house sound and in terms of what the performers hear. One of the most significant developments in the last decade has been the quality and affordability of in-ear systems. Attention to hearing protection and an awareness of the critical role on-stage monitoring plays in the quality of an entertainer's performance have been a driving force in research and manufacturing at Galaxy Audio.
