My 1st flute was a very old, closed hole, basic student flute. After about a week of playing, I had to get a new flute because I had messed that one up so much. I looked around for a while and found this flute. I knew I would be playing flute probably for the rest of high school so I went ahead and got a solid silver one and the B-foot wasn?t much more. It?s held up very well considering I?ve used it for 2 years with marching band. My tone is so much better on it than any other flute. My friend has a Yamaha flute that I play sometimes that?s comparable to this flute but I still can?t get the same rich sound out of it. I?ve gone to camps with upper high school students who have been playing for 8 years when I?ve been playing for 1 and a half. Most of the time, I am told I have a better tone than most because of the flute I have. Going from closed hole to open hole was a huge difference especially with the inline G. I recommend getting the inline G vs. the offset because if you ever get another flute that?s a step up which most have inline G's, its much easier to switch and you can always use a plug while trying to learn. This is a great flute for high school and college.
After several months of playing on a student flute, my daughter's band teacher recommended getting this intermediate flute. My daughter has been very happy with it, and the sound quality is noticeably better than the student flute.
I love this flute. I have always played Gemeinhardt, because I have tried other brands but Gemeinhardt has consistently been the best for me. My first flute was the 2SP, my piccolo is the 4PMH and I currently have this flute. I have the inline G and B foot. The resonance is amazing and the lower register is easily reachable and sounds amazing. With the high C facilitator, all my high notes in the third and fourth octaves are clear and easily in tune. High F# is a few cents flat, as with all of Gemeinhardts that I have played, but other than that this flute is truly amazing.
in 6th grade i started off with a rented yamaha and i still have it but in 7th grade when i made top band i asked for a new flute for my birthday and i said i wanted a golden lip-plate open holed and with the b foot and i got this great flute from my parents. i recremend this for flute players wishin to have a good sound through out high school very good as a consert instrument but i dont suggest usin it for marchin band
I?ve had this flute since 6th grade when I first learned, and I learned on this so open hole is no problem. My aunt had it like 40 years ago all through her playing career and it still plays awesome! I don?t have any problems with it, except the occasional spring, which is because it?s OLD. It?s my freshman year and I played it marching and in concert band. All of the notes come out clearly and sound really good. Surely if you have problems with this flute, you need to work on it, because it?s not the flute's fault.
I've been playing this flute for about a year now (I've been playing flute for 5 years)and I am so immpressed with it. The tone is incredible and I'm so glad I got an open hole flute. The only source of difficult was that mine has a inline G key that student flutes do not have.
