Getzen 3051 Custom Series Bb TrumpetThe all new Custom Series Bb Trumpets are designed with the individual trumpet player in mind. This makes it perfect for the serious high school student or collegiate player with a variety of musical needs. The 3051 Model is ideal for the jazz player looking for a broad, warm tone from a free feeling trumpet. With a standard gold brass bell and square tuning slide crook, the 3051 Trumpet plays smooth with excellent intonation from low to high. Despite the freeness already present with the 3051, players can select the optional large bore (.462") model if even less resistance and a brighter sound is desired. All Custom Series Bb Trumpets feature nickel plated, nickel silver pistons, nickel silver balusters, and one piece, hand hammered yellow or gold brass bells. All three models also feature the choice of clear lacquer, bright silver, or 24K gold plate finishes as well as several other available options and accessories on a special order basis.

I've been playing this horn for over four years now. I love the tone of the gold brass bell and Getzen pistons are incomparable. I rarely play lead, and love the sound. And my tone is distinctive in the upper register, not as bright as that of the guys who play perpetually in the stratosphere. I'm finally playing G above high C, and it is bright enough, but not near as bright as the guys with the small bore horns and shallow mouthpieces.
I bought the 3001LE gold-plated Severinsen model and find it to be well suited for the type of music I play (Jazz, Classical and Brass quintet). Depending on the mouthpiece, you can make this horn sound whatever you want for the occasion. The valves are superb and the overall build of the horn is great. The gold plating is some of the nicest I have seen on any horn and the full engraving adds to the pride of ownership. I am ordering the rounded tuning slide for the horn, which will open it up a bit, although the "D" slide I got with the horn is fine. I have owned many fine horns in the past, but this one ended my quest. Highly recommended and try one out when you have the chance.
