I am a professional musician and a Getzen endorsing artist. When I was a the Getzen factory testing the horns I was going to buy I played the 390's. I found these to be absolutely FANTASTIC horns for student model horns. I could use them on any gig. They are also VERY favorably priced. Then let's factor in the made in America thing! These horns are COMPLETELY built in Elkhorn, Wisconsin! NOTHING is outsourced overseas - not even the parts. Oh, did I mention the valves? Getzen makes the BEST valves in the business - PERIOD! All in all, I would urge any student to get one of these for their first horn. I would even encourage a pro to buy one!
I purchased this horn 4 years ago. It has served me well through 3 years of high school and my first year of college music. The valve action is superb (as long as you use high quality valve oil). This horn is exactly right for a serious student. The price is very reasonable and the quality is very good. I have no serious complaints, and only one VERY minor one. The only aspect of this trumpet I do not like is its 3rd valve slide. The finger ring is poorly designed, and tends to slip out of place. Still, though, I would recommend this trumpet to anyone. It has been worth every cent I paid for it.
This was the first trumpet I ever owned. It worked great then and still does today. The valves are great and intonation is very consistent. If you can't afford a professional model this is the trumpet to get. Simply get a new mouthpiece (no one should use a 7C) such as a Bach 3C and you're ready to play!
I teach elementary band, and this is by far my favorite beginner trumpet. The valves are very reliable and will take the abuse of 10-12 year olds. The case is great too. Very lightweight, compact, and sturdy.
This instrument is a very fine instrument for a young player. The valve action is superior to other student instruments I have encountered ( mostly Yamaha's). The fit and finish are of very good quality and the case is lightweight and does a good job of protecting the instrument. My son's private teacher gave the Getzen a " thumbs-up" also!
