I was going to say the Getzen Capri is an excellent horn for the money, but that would be a disservice. The Capri is an excellent horn, period. It is very free blowing horn with a beautiful tone. The intonation is on the money, and the usual trouble notes that all 3 valve brass instruments have, (namely low C# and D), are easily corrected with the 1st and 3rd valve slides. The workmanship is impeccable, and the valves, (typical Getzen), are as smooth as glass. Even the case is top drawer. The only negative criticism I have is the mouthpiece, and this is just a personal observation. It comes with a Getzen 7C piece which I think doesn't do a cornet justice. IMHO a cornet needs a deep cup, large throat piece to produce that beautiful dark cornet sound.
I just got my Getzen cornet today and what a joy it is to play. It has a beautiful full dark sound with my Bach 1 1/4 C mouthpiece. It is a free blowing horn. I was expecting something between a student and pro horn but this horn blew me away. It has the tone and playability that stands up well to my best horns. This one's a winner, especially for the money. It has fine workmanship and the valves feel great(smooth and responsive).
