Comments about Getzen 895 and 896 Eterna Series Bb Flugelhorn:
I purchased the lacquered version of Getzen's four valve flugelhorn about a year ago, and I am very pleased with the horn. I am an amateur musician who plays in a senior citizen's dance band twice a week, and this horn was an excellent choice for the kind of 30's to 50's dance tunes we play by ear. The fourth valve allows me to reach the notes down to the second space C on the bass clef. Although this C is a little muddy, all the notes above it are easily playable. The horn has top sprung valves, which I appreciate, and the valve action is typically Getzen-smooth. I have only been playing for about 24 years, but the horn seems as good as the other professional horns I own, and has performed without any problems for over a year now. I would buy it again in a New York Minute.
