Exceptionally free blowing with excellent intonation, the Classic will serve working musicians and serious amateurs in a variety of musical contexts.

"Great Horn for High Standards"

This is a fabulous horn in looks and performance. Every Getzen has fast valves; they don't really need to be oiled as much as a Strad. But I have a problem with the finish. It wears off extremely easily, but you can fix that by purchasing a cover for the valve casing. The water keys need extensive oiling. Other than those superficial little problems, it has absolutely no flaws in playing.

If I could only own one current production trumpet for under 2K this would be it. The nickel plated valves are incredible. (sure beats monel) Play it once and you will understand. I am in love with mine!

I bought my Eterna with the flugel horn in the sixties--prob'ly right after they came out. There were many of us Navy players in San Diego who just had to have them. The horn does it all. Whatever YOU can do, it will achieve for you. Flugel horn was also always a gas to play and could make you look good in those instances when all you wanted to do was go home. The other fellow was right about the finish, but mine has been gone for so long in spots I don't even miss it any more. My Eterna is beat and needs some refurbishing TLC . . . I just hate being without it I guess! You gotta know, Doc did some real good things for the rest of us when he came up with the ideas for this beauty for Getzen. If you want to be a good, all around, general biz player, you can't beat this horn!

My Eterna 900 is actually one of the original versions, not the recently reintroduced "Classic", but I believe they're made to the same specs. Anyway, I actually inherited my horn from my wife whose parents thought it was a good idea to buy a professional horn for a high school kid. It had been sitting in a closet for almost 20 years, so when I took it out I wasn't sure what to expect, but after a good cleaning I was, literally, blown away! It has a wonderfully bright, brassy sound that works great for everything from be-bop to funk. Really great intonation throughout, just be a little careful with the 3rd valve in the low register. You may have to lip it just a tad. I highly recommend this horn for anyone who loves that big, bold trumpet sound!

I bought this expecting a decent intermediate horn; nothing as good as a Strad. But when I played my first note on it, the difference between it and my old Yamaha beginner was huge. The nickel plated valves are also superb, and the tone quality is rich and beautiful as well. I actually tried a friend's Strad, expecting a significant difference between it and my much less expensive Getzen. Surprisingly, I noticed very little difference. In fact, I prefer the feeling of the valves on my horn. All in all, a fantastic horn at a great price.
