I traded in a beat Flying V from my teen rocker days for a Hummingbird in 1971 and have been looking for something better ever since. Haven't come close. My wife and children go before the Hummingbird goes. This guitar makes the most pleasing sound I have ever heard in a musical instrument, and it keeps getting better as it ages. Frets are soft and worn, finish is a bit ly in places, but that just adds character.
My '65 natural-top originally had an adjustable bridge which I replaced. The sound is so sweet. It's the most versatile sounding guitar I've ever played. You can rock, finger-pick etc....how it sounds is up to the ability of your own left and right hand. Mine has a narrow neck with slanted parallelograms which makes it easy to move quickly. If you want a loud, booming strummer, this isn't your guitar. If your want flexibility and subtle control over your sound, she's your baby. Go play a few.
