Gibson SG Standard Electric Guitar
The Gibson SG Standard Electric Guitar is one of the most popular incarnations of the legendary Gibson SG. It takes the best of the '62 original and adds the longer and sturdier neck joint of the late '60s models. All the classic features you'd expect from a historic guitar. A Little SG History
In 1961, the Les Paul was redesigned with a thinner body and 2 sharp cutaway horns that making the upper frets more accessible while lowering production costs. The new guitar was popular, but Les Paul the guitarist did not like it and asked to have his name removed. Gibson renamed the model the "SG" which was short for "solid guitar". Though Les Paul's name was officially removed from the model in 1961, the plastic Les Paul nameplates (positioned between the rhythm pickup and fingerboard) were in abundance in the Gibson factory and SG models having these nameplates were built and sold by Gibson up to end of 1963. SGs have been the choice of world-class artists such as Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, and Angus Young.

THIS GUITAR IS GREAT FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY CLASSICS OR ARE IN A SMALL BAND LIKE MYSELF.THE SG IS A GREAT PERFORMING GUITAR AND DESERVES CREDIT FOR GREAT MUSIC, BUT IS REALLY DESERVES TO BE IN GARRAGE BANDS OR IN THE RECORDING STUDIO AND THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.IT PLAYS LIKE A DREAM AND CAN TAKE A BEATING [I KNOW THIS FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE]! OVER ALL IT IS A GREAT RECORDING INSTRAMENT AND GREAT GARRAGE BAND MATERIAL.

Beautiful guitar in Heritage Cherry, plays well, sounds very good especially with distortion, nice binding on the neck, everything works the way it should. The pickups have no noise at all. The 1st one I received had a broken tuning key, but WWBW sent me another guitar within about a week. The downsides on the 2nd one were some minor flaws in the finish when you look closely. It could have been sanded and buffed better at this price point, though it didn't bother me enough to return it. The vintage tuning keys do not stay in tune as well as they should, but that is one of the quirks associated with the Gibson guitars that come with these tuners. Overall, a very nice, professional guitar that plays well and you never get tired of looking at it. May be slightly overpriced, but I like it well enough that I would buy another if something happened to it. My 1st guitar was the Epiphone version of the SG Standard, and I liked it very well, but traded it and later I missed it. That is what led me to buy the Gibson SG Standard and I'm happy I did.

My first "nice" guitar was an Epi G-400 and loved it so naturally I wanted a "real" SG. So I got one two months ago. Let me tell you, I can't put it down. The 490 humbuckers put out a clear, natural tone that are beautiful to hear clean or distorted. The action on the guitar is incredibly light and makes playing it an absolute joy. The binding and finish on the guitar makes it look amazing. My only problem is the the finish is very easy to scratch, so be careful! Otherwise, this guitar is worth the money.

self taught rock and metal some where

I went to two different music stores and I played ever thing from esp to dean to ibanez. Nothing was like or compared to the sg standard. the esp viper 400 and 1000 w/ the active emg's were not even close. I also got to play a dean, the gibson sg is the only guitar for me.
