Giddings & Webster Bayamo Series for CC/BBb TubaThis is a very large CC/BBb tuba mouthpiece designed for a huge sound output. For tuba players that are looking for an enormous sound that will support even the largest ensemble. The Bayamo is similar to a PT-88 rim diameter, with a deeper funnel cup and larger throat. A huge mouthpiece that is balanced, and still plays very well in tune with great articulation, and a thick rich tone. Ideal for those low excerpts that need a huge amount of volume! Rim 1.32, and the throat is .332" diameter, very deep funnel shape cup.

I read about this mouthpiece on their website and thought about the fact that I wanted more projection all around and especially in the low range. It exceeded my expectations, the low range is ridiculous, i am able to play as low as a double pedal f on my BBb tuba, with this tuba playing that low rings out and even though it is known for the low range, the middle and upper range come out just as well. It does force you to put air though the horn, but that's needed regardless. This mouthpiece is a great all around mouthpiece and should be used only with large bore tubas, i would recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect mouthpiece!!!!
The Bayamo by Giddings and Webster is an amazing mouthpiece, for those suited to play it. It is gargantuan, in terms of the Cup depth and width, as well as the outside of the cup. At first, It had a tendency to get bright and edgy, but with time and LOADS of practice this tendency dissapeared. I think I had to adjust my embouchure a bit. If you have the chops, and the horn ( I wouldn't use it on a tiny F Tuba, or tiny CC or BBb for that matter, it would put way too much air through it) then go for it with this beast. The high Register in particular takes practice, partially due to the massive size of the cup. Also, invest in a good case for this mouthpiece, the shank is very thin and will dent easily if dropped.
This is the largest, best low register dark sounding mouthpiece I have ever played. I have both a heavyweight and the newer model lightweight Bayamo and am pleased with both. If you want DEEP, FAT monsterous low sound this thing will fill the largest bores available on the market. Just be careful as you might need an oxygen tank after the piece to chase away the dizzy spells - it takes a lot of wind. Between the two I prefer the heavyweight model as the sound is darker and more in line with most of the work I use it for (smaller groups). The lightweight has more edge to the sound if you need to be heard in a larger group.
This mouthpiece sevrved me well for many years and continues to be the mouthpiece I march with in my band (Or hopefully a Drum. Corp. later). This mouthpiece has a deep rich sound that carries well in many situations and ensembles. They only downside for me is it took a while to master the design, what I mean is this mouthpiece seems uncontrolable once you start but once you master this mouthpiece; it becomes a valuable tool in your musical arsenal!
My teacher has just recently let me borrow this mouth piece. Originally, I had been playing on a Schilke 66 which I had played for many, many blissful hours on but, as soon as I got this mouthpiece, I immediately fell in love with it. I was able to get a massive sound out of my tuba which is a 1/4 size BB flat Joseph Lidl. It has incredible flexibility and range for a mouthpiece this size. I am planning on buying it from him as a Christmas present for myself. Anyone who may be thinking about buying this mouth piece should go ahead and make the investment. It would be well worth it.
