Musical Experience:
20 years playing clarinet, 16 years teaching
Style of music:
Hometown
Mobile, AL
I have used this thumb rest for several years after trying several different kinds--even trying to invent some of my own. It is great for all levels of players. Mine stays on all the time and the clarinet still fits into the case easily. I recommend these to all my band students and private lesson students. They are inexpensive and easily replaced if a student loses one. I have used the same one for about three years, they are soft but durable. This is a great buy!

Musical Experience:
bassoon, clarinet, piano, and percussion
Style of music:
classical to jazz fusion
Hometown

Having played the clarinet for the longest time out of the many instruments I play, I have found this Cushion to work better then it's competition. Sometimes, while marching in those long parades, my thumb would actually go numb! I then tried this and, at the next parade, my thumb had no pain or numbness whatsoever. The size of the cushion lets the weight of the clarinet be evenly distributed--unlike the thumbrest itself. Now, after purchasing a professional clarinet (Yamaha YCL650), I can adjust the thumbrest and use a pillow-like cushion and have the ultimate comfort experience--and that makes quite a difference in my sound.
