Guardala MBII Tenor Saxophone MouthpieceThe Guardala MBII tenor saxophone mouthpiece helps you capture the fusion sound that defined the 1980s. The Guardala MBII offers plenty of edge but also reproduces the fat, bottom sound associated with the greatest tenor saxophonists of the last 25 years.

This review is not over-inflated. This mouthpiece is the real deal! Of course, with that being said, it is safe to say that compared to various mouthpieces I've played over the past years, this one is a 10 compared to the others being a so so 5 or 6, because of how responsive it is, mostly universal with reeds, and is easy to play in various dynamics at command. To switch from a Brilhart Level-Aire(Pre-Selmer) to an MBII is a huge step to say the least, but I never thought that I would fan over a mouthpiece like this, and thinking the mouthpiece keeps taunting, "play me, you know you wanna!" And just like other reviews, the strap ligature is a complete throwaway, I can't even fit the ligature on when putting on a reed. I have even tried two Rovner Ligatures, and it still doesn't do justice compared to a metal ligature. It is also a real tester of one's chops, because even though the mouthpiece is one of most responsive mpc's out there, it also will reveal how well your chops are, which doesn't mean it's hard to play, but it definitely will show you where your weaknesses lie. Pick up a Selmer Paris Metal Mouthpiece Ligature, because it is one of the best fitting and response promoting ligatures, just realize that when you order it here, the Ligature and Cap are SOLD SEPARATELY. Try this piece, you can always return it, but I doubt you will.
Great CNC'd mouthpiece at a great price. Very consistent. Fantastic sound that can be shaped to fit the style of music.
I've being playing saxophone for more than 10 year now and finally I've got the sound that i
I was looking for , this mouth piece has everythng highs lows, it is warm and Edgy the equalization is exquisite I'm enjoying my playing more than ever
Been playing on a LT King for the past 5 yrs. or so. Got damaged during a gig, so I decided to try out the LT MBII model. Not a terrible mouthpiece, but not great either. Sounds excellent in the high and low range of the horn...altissimo pops right out, but mid range wasn't very good at all. Tried a variety of reeds, but no resonance at all in the mids - very stuffy sound. If the mids had a nice sound, this piece would be a keeper.
It also looks mass produced - the finish had a few blemishes on it, and the plating inside the chamber was very rough. There were some very weird machine cuts inside the chamber also. Frankly, that would not have bothered me had the piece sounded good.
Overall, comparing this to an older LT King model, the quality of the King is considerably better. I'll be sending this back, and trying a new LT King next.
I wanted to try a mpc that could cut through a bands sound in the rock genre and this one has definitely done just that. This thing is loud, I mean it is really loud. Make sure that when you order this piece you order a few of them for trial because each one is completely different. The first MBII (gold) I tried was extremely free blowing and so bright that I immediately said "nope" not the one and the middle register just sounded thin with no core.Brecker had core throughout all of the registers. The second mouthpiece I tried was much darker and still had the edge. Also, the sound had core in the middle register and a little back pressure which I like.I was sold on #2. The final MBII I tried was bright but not as bright as the first one so that one was a no go for me.This last one had no middle register core to the sound.
The plus to all of the MBIIs I tried was that the altissimo register speaks easily and same with the lower register. I can only play this mpc for a limited amount of time because it is so loud.I'm planning on wearing ear plugs when gigging with this mpc.
