The Real Books are the best-selling jazz books of all time.
Since the 1970s, musicians have trusted these volumes to get them through every gig, night after night. The problem with the originals was that the books were illegally produced and distributed, without any regard to copyright law, and without royalties being paid to the composers who created these musical masterpieces.
Hal Leonard now proudly presents the first legitimate and legal editions of these books ever produced. You wouldn't notice the difference-other than all the notorious errors being fixed: the covers and typeface look the same, the song list is nearly identical, and the price for Hal Leonard's edition is even cheaper than the original. Every conscientious musician will appreciate that these books are now produced accurately and ethically, benefitting the songwriters that we owe for some of the greatest tunes of all time.

Comments about Hal Leonard The Bb Real Book - Sixth Edition:
If you play jazz and you don't own this book, by it now. This is the musician's best friend. If you playing in a session and someone calls out a song you don't know, it's probably in this book. The only problem I have is that some of the key sigs are wrong. Straight No Chaser was in the wrong key. I didn't know this until I was at a college audition and they told me I played it in the wrong key. (They didn't hold it against me tho). Still, worth it.
