I think that Harmon is the original and still the best there is. Harmon produces a smooth and rich sound. All the way. You are supposted to breathe warm air into your bell and give the mute a good twist and I can assure you that it wont fall out.

Newer B1 bells have a larger bore - and this mute has to be modified to keep it in the bell. I called Schilke; they said Harmon (and Mutec - same company) is aware of this and is designing a mute specifically for these horns. They advised I chat with Harmon about it. So - I called Harmon and they confirmed the information: they are designing mutes for Schilkes in both their Harmon and Mutec lines. They said the work-around to make the mute fit is to glue on additional cork or hobby foam.

Solid mute, dropped it a bunch and practically no damage. This mute is used by the majority of my band, very fun.

Still a great mute.

Comments about Harmon B Model Aluminum Trumpet Wow-Wow Mute:

This has that classic tone and with the stem out you can sound like Miles (or at least close). Very lightweight it doesn't effect the horn balance at all. I find it reasonably free blowing. I would purchase again and recommend to my friends.

Great Sounding!

Comments about Harmon B Model Aluminum Trumpet Wow-Wow Mute:

I bought each of our trumpet players in our church orchestra this mute and it sounds awesome. The only problem I had was that every mute I unboxed, the cork had begun to pull away. But I assume that after months of use, it will be okay.

this mute is a classic mute. i bought it in november and i have loved it ever since.i like to experiment with the stem in having it in or out and putting my hand over it sort of like a plunger for my improv soloing.everyday i cant wait to use it. i would strongly recommend it to anybody looking to buy one of their own. i promise you will love it.

Great Mute!

Comments about Harmon B Model Aluminum Trumpet Wow-Wow Mute:

I am reviewing this as an aspiring musician and as a student. From my point of view, the mute is great! The tone is just awesome and it very easy to play, and it doesnt affect my range at all. I found it stays in my Olds trumpet quite well as long as I blow warm air into the bell and twist it in. A great buy for your money!

I purchased this mute last November for my jazz ensemble. I have played with it in a few times, and it is fantastic! Great price and the shipping was quick too.

Greatest mute I have ever used

Comments about Harmon B Model Aluminum Trumpet Wow-Wow Mute:

I've had this mute for about a year, but just performed with it for the first time, about three weeks in a Jazz Band tour that went around to local elementary schools for a day, and again two weeks later during our concert. It has a very interesting/ distinctive sound with or without the stem (though I prefer it without the stem.) After the concert, many people complimented me on my solo and use of the mute (some even said I had the second best solo (our first Tenor Sax player had the best, mainly because Jazz is literally his entire life)) It's the best mute I have ever used, and now I use it in about 75% of my Jazz Solos. I highly suggest getting this mute if you are serious about playing Jazz.
