Because of the composite hard material that the bell sits on and the corners on the component parts, I found it putting small dents on the inside of the bell of my horn. Although it is a stable stand, I have had to modify it to protect my instrument.
Customer service was incredible! They stand behind their product 100%. It was an unusual event, but they exchanged my broken stand for a new one, with my only expense being the shipping back to them. I'll be more careful with this one, don't use for anything less than .500 bore size.
I bought this stand when I needed somewhere to put my trombone during the long resting periods that occur frequently when playing in a pit orchestra. I found that the stand supported my tenor trombone just fine. Putting the stand together was no trouble either, once I got the hang of it. When I switched instruments to a Bach Stradivarius and a Conn 88h, the stand still held my instruments true and true.
However, right off the bat, the main neck of the stand seemed pretty rusty and hard to pull out when setting up the stand. This has gotten worse and worse over the two years that I have had the stand. There's still nothing wrong with the way the stand holds my trombones, but I'm worried about what the rust might lead to the malfunctioning of my stand, endangering the safety of my instruments.
I bought this stand for my Conn 88-H. It works and travels well, but after 4 months of usage, the plastic locking lever to adjust the stand height broke. A more durable locking lever is needed, maybe made of metal instead of plastic. But if you're careful and don't use too much force when locking the lever, it should hold up. But IMO, it is a design weakness. I called WWBW, explained what happened and they sent me a replacement stand at no charge. So kudos to WWBW for the excellent customer service!
Have used it on my Blessing 88HO tenor open wrap F attachment, and my p-Bone, and my Yamaha Xeno YSL 830L Bass Trombone.
Works fine on tenor and pBone, not so good with my Yamaha Bass. The vertical support shaft slips in it's locking clamp, and I have found the slide bumper tip on the floor several times in the morning, meaning the clamp had fallen about two inches. Clamp is not heavy duty enough for a big heavy, professional Bass Trombone.
