I have a 70 yr old tuba. Always had problems with valves sticking and dragging until a repairman told me about Hetman #3 classic. Now I rarely have troubles with my valves, and the stuff has incredible staying power. I can get by with oiling about once a week as opposed to every time I play.
I use this oil on all of my horns , from jazz gigs on my Bach Bb, to orchestral concerts on my Yamaha C, to chamber concerts on my Schilke pic. By far, the best valve oil I've ever used.
The #1 light piston oil works wonders on tight valves like on my new Marcinkiewicz. Thicker oils make the valves much slower.
I have been playing trumpet for over 40 years and this is the best oil by far. Instead of oiling my valves at least once every time I play, I now just put a drop on each valve once a week. I have tried many brands including another brand of synthetic that came out around 5-6 years ago. None have even come close to this oil,in fact I have given multiple half used bottles of different brands away since I feel that I have found the best oil(for me).
I've been using classic piston oil #3 on my Getzen trumpet and piston oil #2 on my Bach Strad, Getzen picc and flugal, and light bearing oil on both my Conn 6d and my King eroica, and heavy bodied slide oil on all for about three years now. These are the best lubes I've ever used. In particular my strad has always been a little slow in comparison to my Getzen. This oil has sped it up considerably and makes the valves respond in a way that makes my fingers feel great. Classic #3 on the Getzen reduces the drag I feel on really continuous valve work like Arban's characteristic study #13.When somebody complains about a sticky strad, I give them a bottle of hetman#2!
