All Hodge silk swabs are made from 100% Chinese silk, very absorbent, very compressible to avoid bunching, and lint free. Most Hodge swabs are made using a ball chain, while the saxophone swabs and bass clarinet swabs use a plastic-coated lead weight. Black silk, virtually impossible for the swab to get stuck in the instrument.

Comments about Hodge Bb Clarinet Silk Swab:

I bought this swab thinking it would be a great swab, everyone recomends silk. It was alright the first day, but after that it did not seem to pick up spit. This swab left my clarinet wet after about twelve pulls.

Pink Problems

Comments about Hodge Bb Clarinet Silk Swab:

I have this swab in pink (the only color option in the store I was in). It is absorbent, but the pink dye bleeds very badly. Pink spit falls out of my clarinet, and it turned all my pads pink. I tried cleaning it in the sink several times, but it still bleeds pink. When I clean it in the sink, it turns the water completely pink. It kind of scares me, because I'm wondering if the dye can harm the wood. But maybe other colors won't bleed like that. I don't know.
