Excellent horn for chamber orchestra.
Bright, compact feel and sound with outstanding tonal beauty. Bell proportions provide a dark but singing tone with fine legato characteristics. Yellow brass produces a higher tone color with more overtones and clearer projection. Capable of playing pianissimo staccato notes sensitively, clearly, and evenly.

Comments about Holton H178 Professional Farkas French Horn:
The H-178 is the "original" Farkas Horn, first introduced as the model 77 by Holton in the 60's. This is the medium bore, brass Horn as Philip Farkas originally conceived and designed it. I have used both an original 77 and a newer 178 for many years with lots of success. Contrary to popular belief: Holton Horns are not "just student Horns!" The company got this reputation because it worked so closely with music education.
