OVERVIEW

More resistance and a rose brass bell.

This artist tenor is an excellent selection for those who desire slightly more resistance. Its sound is a bit lighter in character than that of other large-bore models. This instrument allows the student to bridge the gap between the tenor and bass trombone families. The 9" bell and the .547 bore give the feel and the deep sound of the bass trombone without taxing the player too heavily.

Key of Bb with F attachment. .547" bore, 9" red brass bell, chromeplated nickel-silver inner slide, nickel-silver outer slide, traditional wrap, nylon ball-and-socket linkage, lacquer finish. Includes mouthpiece and deluxe wood shell case.

FEATURES
  • 9"-diameter red brass bell with wire-reinforced rim
  • Chrome-plated nickel-silver inner slide with seamless innerslide tubes; nickel-silver outer slide
  • Traditional wrap
  • Nylon ball-and-socket linkage
  • Lacquer finish

Comments about Holton TR158 Series F Attachment Trombone:

Owned one for a LONG time. From High School through professional career, this horn served me well. The best and quietest trigger mechanics of ANY horn on the market that I have seen. Excellent tone. Plays better than a custom Getzen/Edwards open wrap horn that I owned briefly, then promptly sold that Getzen to a guy in Japan. As good or better than the Bach 42BO that I owned as well. An extremely underrated horn

A "sleeper"!!

Comments about Holton TR158 Series F Attachment Trombone:

Years ago I played a prototype "TR150A" that a great sound and great response, but a couple of notes that just didn't speak, like high Ab. The TR158 evolved from the prototype and has the response and sound without the bad notes. The valve doesn't have the short throw, but blows freely. The nine inch rose bell will not break up at loud volumes. I would rate this horn better than any Bach 42B I've ever played, but it seems that nobody's ever heard of it!
