I have two Selmer saxes made in the late 50"s. Since I began using the clamps I have had fewer problems with leaks. I have been using them for at least 5 years (probably longer) and they are no worse for the wear.

"Fits "The Martin" Tenor"

The bell clamp piece is designed to close the low Bb, B, and C keys on the saxophone. The bell on my Martin tenor has the low Bb and B keys opposite of the C key. So if you have a vintage horn like mine with a similar design, you shouldn't have any problems getting it to fit properly.

"They protect the keys!"

As a traveling musician and musical instrument repair technician I have found that saxophones are most usually knocked out of adjustment while being transported in the case- as evidenced by the fact that the upper & lower stacks most often have every key shifted an equal amount toward the bottom of the case- a sign that the instrument has been subjected to some kind of shock while packed away in the case .Once the lid is closed it's way too easy to think of your instrument as now just a piece of luggage! Bumping doorways, setting the case down a little too hard, putting any kind of pressure or weight on the case, hitting chuckholes while the instrument is in the care all contribute to gradually altering the alignment of the delicate (yet heavy) brass keywork that is normally suspended in an open position. Clamping those keys down eliminates this problem when transporting your instrument. My current instrument is 13 years old and, aside from replacing a few pads, has never needed any adjustment during this time thanks to the religious use of pad clamps.
