This is definitely the best mouthpiece for the money! I have played many mouthpieces, I own eleven different ones, and I've given a few away! This very inexpensive Mouthpiece produces an excellent tone, good projection and ease of play. Try not to use reeds that are too hard. The professional standard reed (Vandoren or similar) strength 3 works very well. Students find an easier time making music.

As a music teacher, I'm eager to make sure my young woodwind players are having fun as well as producing a good sound. The Premier by Hite clarinet mouthpiece provides excellent 'blow ability' as well as a nice, strong, clear sound. Students usually find instant 'success' when they transition to this mouthpiece. Flexible enough to accommodate classical playing (open bottom end, nice clear high notes) as well as jazz performance (like glissando and solo work), the Premiere - when combined with a Rover 1R ligature, has become 'standard issue' in my music practice.

As a clarinet teacher, I've tried many student mouthpieces over many years. The Hite Premier is the most consistent and the most inexpensive, and it supports a nice round sound. Even beginners notice the difference between stock mouthpieces and the Premier. It has a nice, wide tip lay and can can be coupled with Rico or Vandoren 2.5, 3.0 or 3.5 as the student advances. If it's broken by student accidents, it's easily replaced without any financial hardship. Band directors often recommend the Vandoren B45, but it's expensive and inconsistent. The premier makes my job easier as a teacher, and it gives the students an immediate tone improvement and, therefore, a boost in confidence. This is the only mouthpiece that I recommend for beginners and beginning/intermediate students.

My first clarinet had Selmer Goldentone #3 which was easy to master, yet my teacher found it too "bright". Got a Yamaha 4C which has a great darker tone yet was harder to blow. Finally I awarded myself a Hite Premiere, and despite having tried other "better" mouthpieces, I still consider my Premiere the best for me. Easy articulation, not too hard nor too soft, just great. It's not the end of squeaks but definitely the end of hisses. A Rovner"dark" ligature works perfectly, and together with Mitchell Lurie #3 reeds you have a winning combination. I think I buy a second one, just to have a backup in case...

I wanted a good, high quality mouthpiece, but didn't want to pay a fortune. This mouthpiece is exactly what I was looking for. The price is unheard of, and the high notes easily come out without struggles.
