Comments about J & D Hite Artist Baritone Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I have had one of these mouthpieces for years and bought a second one in case I drop the old one. I've tried a bunch of different mouthpieces and keep coming back to the Hite.

      Easy, versatile, great tone

Comments about J & D Hite Artist Baritone Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I needed a mouthpiece for versatility in a quartet setting. I tried the S80 C* for bari, which is what I use on alto, and this piece beat it out! You can push against it without sounding honky or going out of tune, and play quietly with ease and beautiful, rich tone. I would not recommend for a big band setting, but it is PERFECT for quartet. My friend borrowed it from me for his Salsa and Rock gigs, and he loved it so much he never gave it back. I would buy it again without a second's hesitation. Best bari mouthpiece I've ever used in my 15 years as a performer.

I've used these mouthpieces for years. They are great for that student just moving from another instrument. They are comfortable and easy to get a good sound from.

Comments about J & D Hite Artist Baritone Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I bought my first Hite when Jean & David did the wonderful hand facing on these and they were always spectacular. I have one for each of my saxes, soprano to bari. Regrettably I have to get used to either sending things back or pay $30-40 and have the facings redone when dealing with a Babbitt product. Although I have grown accustom to Hite Mp I no longer have faith in the products perfection, as I sent for a spare since the price is so low and I am mystified at how poorly the bottom notes can be played. No tone, no reed flutter almost like the facing curve is shortened and complete loss of that perfectly even top to bottom evenness that Hites were known for. I still recommend the tonal concept for quartet and band but I am very disappointing that I have to send it back and cost myself more money than expected.

Comments about J & D Hite Artist Baritone Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I followed the remarks of a previous reviewer and have not been disappointed. The Hite Bari mpc, like other Hite mpc, plays as stated. Clean rich sound. Plays with ease of flexibility and expression for quartet, classical and concert band. Even sounds good on a Bass sax! I highly recommend this to any one looking for an all around mouthpiece with smooth rich power and refinement. However if you are looking for a piercing Jazz band fusion sound this will be too tame for you. I would compare this mouthpiece, in sound and richness, to a Morgan C1 and cleaner more focussed than a Rousseau N5. I predominately use this on any of my bari's for quartet to Concert music and on occassion in small jazz venues so as to not overpower the room but maintain a full rich sound.
