Jet Tone MF Classic Re-Issue Trumpet MouthpieceJet Tone mouthpieces were legendary throughout the 60s and 70s as commercial trumpet players sought to expand their range. The Jet Tone brand was in danger of disappearing altogether but was recently revitalized and reintroduced with strict conformity to the original specifications. This includes the Jet Tone JT MF which is the original model favored by the greatest lead trumpeter who ever lived. The "V" cup offers more resistance and is good for strong high note players or high school jazz band players seeking to expand their upper register.

I would not even try this mouthpiece if I already did not know I could play successfully on small mouthpieces. I have played for years on the Schilke 13a4a. The MF mouthpiece is difficult for me because the cup volume is large enough to require much energy to produce high notes. The sound is also full for the same reason.
However, I am having great success with the JetTone BC mouthpiece. It plays louder and high notes are easier than with the MF. Endurance also better. The BC diameter is larger, cup smaller, rim exceptionally comfortable-flat and wide.
*less resistance than a typical cup shape
*hard to fit on embouchure if untrained
*small diameter (especially if transitioning from a larger diameter cup)
*if played incorrectly, has a very tinny sound
The small diameter is both a blessing and a curse because it allows the max amount of lip in the "cup", but if placed incorrectly, can sound very bad.
If there's one piece of advice for future trumpet players who buy this, remember to train yourself on it for a few weeks before using it for extended periods of time.
Well, as a mouthpiece, the MF JT does not dissapoint. It does everything it says it does to an extent. I just found that it really wasn't right for me.
While being shallow,(and yes high notes DO come out)it seemed too shallow. The "V-cup" design that is praised in the description is difficult to get my lips into; and I don't have large chops. Also the cup and diameter was so small that it was slipping off my face as i tried to play, not to mention it WILL WEAR YOU OUT.
If you are looking for a mouthpiece for high notes, this will get you them; but don't expect to play a full set with the MF JT plugged in your horn. You'll won't be able to get a sound out after 10 minutes.
