Jewel Saxophone SwabsThese tie-dyed swabs are a favorite among students and pros alike. The silk fabric is absorbant and the drops are padded so as not to damge the instrument's bore.

I've tried other cleaning supplies and like Jewel the best. GEM isn't sturdy and broke after a couple weeks and didn't even clean the horn that well to begin with. Pad savers are bad for cleaning and the Micro Pectole one doesn't even work. I recommend the Jewel swab to all of my students as I believe it to be a superior product for instrument cleaning. A definite must-have.
This is a great product. The tye-dye is so fun, and the fabric is absorbent and catches moisture from every part of the sax. Also, the weight is covered in rubber, so when you drop it in you don't have to worry about damage. I definitely recommend it!
The Jewel saxophone swab does a great job at absorbing moisture, especially considering the light silk that it's made of. It never gets stuck in the neckhole, yet one can still feel the resistance when pulling it through that tells you that it's doing its job.
The weight works well in finding its way out of the saxophone, but perhaps almost TOO well. It's quite heavy and bulky. The sound it makes if you were to carelessly drop it in the bell (like I and I'm sure many others) is almost as if it was making a dent in the horn. Although it can't scratch due to being coated in rubber, mild denting is something an owner of this swab should take a little precaution to prevent.
But most importantly the Jewel saxophone swab doesn't let moisture remain and let fluff get caught in the keys like Padsavers do. So if one is careful when dropping it in the bell, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
First off, this is an excellent swab all around. It's very absorbent and gets the job done very nicely. A few things were a little sketchy though. I wonder if they did not send me the right one because the one I received was just plain black, maybe just a variation in color. Also after I opened the package i realized that the string was huge! So that day after I played I ran it through, with the silk still sticking out of the bell I had at least 2 1/2 feet of string left outside of the horn. Possibly they just want to make sure it's long enough, who knows? A word to those buying, consider ordering a size smaller than you think you'll need.
This is by far the best swab out, it's colorful, it won't get stuck in your sax, and it dries up really well!
