Product Overview and Specifications
More Info

The JodyJazz DV is the state of the art in saxophone mouthpieces.
The main goal with this mouthpiece was to create the most efficient mouthpiece possible. That means that there are a huge amount of harmonics present in the sound and therefore the projection of the mouthpiece is huge. Another goal was to eliminate the annoying shrillness that is associated with loud bright mouthpieces.

The DV is an amazing thing to play.
JodyJazz is using a new proprietary CNC facing technology that puts the perfect facing curve on the mouthpiece which results in absolutely no dead spots in the vibration of the reed. In other words all notes in all ranges respond equally. It has a husky barrel-chested tone while being able to sing and soar over the top of any band. Sub toning and low notes are extremely easy and the altissimo is out of this world. Intonation is spot on. Be prepared to have possibly the most fun you ever have had on the saxophone.

If you like bright.
Players who now or in the past have played, Guardala, Dukoff, Beechler, Jumbo Java, SR Tech, Vandoren V16, Yanigisawa, or any of the bright mouthpieces out there will be sure to love The DV.

What the players are saying
"After playing the Jody Jazz Tenor DV mouthpiece for a few seconds the first thought that came into my head was," Oh, so there's my sound!" This piece makes playing fun again. It has a very rich and powerful sound that enables you to play the entire range of the horn, from low Bb through the altissimo with ease. It gives you the freedom that you're looking for in a mouthpiece." Jeff Kashiwa - Native Language Recording Artist

What the players are saying
The DV is amazing. It's brighter, louder and fuller than the ESP-X, without sacrificing any of the ease and control. I thought that nothing could exceed the ESP-X in these terms, but I was wrong. If you play modern styles, you MUST try this mouthpiece." Andy Snitzer - NYC

Once in a while a product comes along that blows everything out of the water and redefines performance and quality. Jody Espina has done such a thing in the DV series mouthpiece. He now offers high baffle as well as a darker "New York" model in alto and tenor. Let me be plain about this. If you’re serious about your alto playing, your search for a mouthpiece will end here. If you're an older player a new energy and enjoyment will be born in you for playing. Jody offers a number of facings but you will want to either get a larger opening than you're used to or you will end up playing on a significantly stronger reed with this mouthpiece. At $450, the price for this piece is mind boggling but it should keep out all but the most serious of players. You will want to play NO other mouthpiece after you play this on and there is nothing it won't do. More in tune, bigger, fatter bottom notes, and full bodied high register notes as well as ease of harmonics for altissimo. It will be a long time before anyone puts out a mouthpiece that will surpass this one

I have been through literally hundreds of alto mouthpieces on my Mark Six over the years, but have never gotten that right sound with just the edge for playing lead alto for solos. The DV alto achieved this for me almost right out of the box. It is effortless to blow and has a huge sound with all the beautiful overtones that an alto can have. Altissimo is so easy now, and the intonation is as perfect as I have ever achieved. I NEVER thought a metal alto would do it for me, but the Jody Jazz DV has. This mouthpiece is awesome. As for the price, I forgot about that as soon as I stated playing it. Thanks WWBW for allowing me to try it first.
