Jody Jazz DV NY Tenor Saxophone MouthpieceThe JodyJazz DV NY Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece produces a darker, less bright tone than the contemporary sound of the DV. The deep baffle/chamber design of the DV NY produce a beautiful classic jazz tenor sound reminiscent of the masters of the 50's and 60's. This mouthpiece comes with Theo Wanne's innovative cap, ligature and pouch.

This mouthpiece is by far the best I have ever played on.
I went from a Meyer 7 to an old Berg Larsen Metal 100/0 from the 1970s to a newer Berg Hard Rubber 115/2, then back and forth between those three for awhile. As soon as I tried the JJ DVNY, it blew all of the others out of the park.
Being a person who prefers a large tip opening (8*) with a VERY soft reed (A green-box Vandoren Java #2, sanded down to be more like a 1 3/4), this mouthpiece blows as freely as you could possibly ever want it to. The sound in the low register is warm and full, and the subtone is effortless. The high register is brilliant and projecting, without ever being thin or shrill. It is worth every penny.
NOTE: I play on an Andreas Eastman 52nd Street tenor sax, which is a fairly bright and free-blowing horn in and of itself. The DVNY compliments it perfectly.
I went to WWBW and tried 25 diffrent MP's and when I put the Jody Jazz DVNY on my horn with a #2 reed. I found I was in heaven. The sound that came from my horn was, what I had been searching for years for. Strong, soft, full, mellow I could do them all and the SOUND...boy the SOUND. Please make this one you try. Thank you WWBW and Thank You Jody Jazz. You have given me that sound that was in my head. It is now coming out of my horn. Thank You.
Sax feeling sluggish? Plays well in some registers but suffers in others? Stuffy middle D? Stuffy high A?
Leave the tar pits of sluggish mouthpieces behind. With the JJ DVNY, you can have your dark, husky 'vintage' tenor voice AND have clarity, projection, and ease of articulation, too.
It is simply so much more joyful to play with this piece than ANY HR piece I have ever played, including a very nice hand-refaced Link Tone Edge, that itself was worlds better than anything I had tried prior to owning it.
Simply wonderful sounding and playing. Thanks, JJ!
