A versatile clarinet mouthpiece for both the classical and jazz clarinetist.
The JodyJazz Classic Series Clarinet Mouthpiece offers a range of facing that are ideal for both classical and jazz. Facings from two to four are best for classical and orchestral music. A number two facing is roughly equivalent to a Vandoren 5RV, and a four facing is comparable to a B45. To achieve a larger sound with more projection for jazz music, facings five to seven are optimal. A facing seven is close to a Vandoren 5JB. This mouthpiece comes with Theo Wanne's innovative cap, ligature and pouch.
The Classic is made of a polycarbonate with a hard rubber mix which is far more expensive than traditional hard rubber. This material helps the Classic create a tone characterized as deep, dark and woody with a centered sound. A patented removable baffle, called a spoiler, can be used when more volume is needed.

I agree 100% with the written description for this mouthpiece. The #4 plays very similar to a Van Doren B45. But, the Jody is brighter because of the baffle. If you want a versatile mouthpiece for Concert band and Orchestra, this is NOT a good choice. If you want a screamer, try the Jody!
Yes, I bought this mouthpiece for my 7th grade son. He had a student one but his playing was improving so much, I felt the upgrade would be a great boost. He says it is easier to use and his tone sounds much better. He plays in school band and with his older brothers who are both accomplished musicians (for High school). Make them sound great and they will want to play more, giving them a world of enjoyment. I also recommended it to one of my band students and they seem very happy with it.
This is the ultimate clarinet mouthpiece for a jazz doubler playing sax and clarinet. I am a sax player doubling on clarinet and can't believe how open and free-blowing this mouthpiece is, like the open-tip tenor sax mouthpieces I prefer (Guardala Super King, Ponzol M2). Most jazz sax players find clarinet mouthpieces constricted, stuffy, and limiting. This mouthpiece, in #7 and 8 facing, lets such a jazz player cut loose, great overtones with softer reeds, specifically Rico Mitchell Luri #2-2.5,exceptional range from subtones to screaming altissimo, easy harmonic transitions between different overtones, let's me play a "Texas Wobble" which I've never been able to do before on clarinet, and can reach high C more easily than with any other setup. This is an ultimate jazz mouthpiece for a sax clarinet doubler.
