I have owned and played this horn for almost a year now. For a long time, Jupiter produced low-quality but affordable instruments because the company was young. Those days are gone. Their current line of horns is very high quality, including the marching mellophones I just bought for our school marching band this year. Anyway I have this horn with reversed leadpipe, and I like the rounded tuning slide. It is very free blowing and can get very loud. The sound is like a Bach 43 bell, I think. It does not sound at all like a Bach 37. Notes are more clear above the staff than on a Bach or Yamaha, but you have to be a strong player because it is very free-blowing. The valves are better than a Bach or Yamaha. I think it is an outstanding value for playing in a section in Wind Ensemble or a Jazz Band. It is not a soloist horn and I would not suggest it for a college music major because it does not have the conventional soloist sound that they will want to hear.

For the past 15 years I've played both the lightweight and heavywall Yamaha trumpets. Both instruments were incredibly good trumpets. I currently am playing the lightweight using the Yamaha GP series mouthpiece. I am trying the Jupiter XO 1602S model and have found it to be an incredible horn. The response in all registers is excellent. Intonation is excellent. Tone quality is excellent. A truly great trumpet. The Jupiter mouthpiece that comes with it is not good however. There's no comparison in the way the horn plays when using the Yamaha mouthpiece. So, if you buy one, throw away the Jupiter mouthpiece and use something else. In conclusion: A superior trumpet, plus the heavy valve caps are an added value to have. If you try this horn, you'll probably end up buying it.
