Before deciding on this horn, I tried many other trumpets, from Strads to Xenos. Not only did this horn outplay both of those trumpets, the price was excellent. I?ve been playing on this trumpet for six months and couldn?t ask for anything better. Great tone, free blowing, and great slotting, as well as great intonation from low F# all the way up. This horn is underrated, but is absolutely amazing. I would recommend this horn to any serious trumpeter.
This trumpet was the first professional trumpet I bought. And It was an amazing purchase. The sound and tone is amazing. I don't take this instrument into the Football stands during Marching Band, but this has one of the best tones for a Symphonic Band. An absolute best for any player. But If you have the money for a Stradivarius, I would proceed into buying that, just because of its name. If you need a amazing sounding trumpet, but not spending too much money, I would buy this.
Prior to purchasing this horn a year and a half ago, I tried every horn I could get my hands on. From Strad to Xeno, no horn had the feel that I was looking for. I am a Jazz Performance major and I'm always playing lead with this horn. The intonation and slotting is great both above the staff and below. I would recommend the XO series to any musician that believes in playing with the best horn they can find. 1602RS-R (rose brass w/ reverse lead pipe) My mouthpiece is a M B4L-P from Kanstul.
For the past 15 years I've played both the lightweight and heavywall Yamaha trumpets. Both instruments were incredibly good trumpets. I currently am playing the lightweight using the Yamaha GP series mouthpiece. I am trying the Jupiter XO 1602S model and have found it to be an incredible horn. The response in all registers is excellent. Intonation is excellent. Tone quality is excellent. A truly great trumpet. The Jupiter mouthpiece that comes with it is not good however. There's no comparison in the way the horn plays when using the Yamaha mouthpiece. So, if you buy one, throw away the Jupiter mouthpiece and use something else. In conclusion: A superior trumpet, plus the heavy valve caps are an added value to have. If you try this horn, you'll probably end up buying it.
Jupiter has a reputation for their bottom-of-the-line instruments being sold to schools who have a small budget, or rented to beginner instrumentalists. It was only after extensive shopping and research for a professional horn that i found their XO series instruments, which were debuted in 2007. After trying the horn, I was very happy with the result I purchased it and it has been my trumpet for a few months now. The tone is sweet, dark, and very broad, and the instrument itself slots very well. No regrets with this purchase- especially knowing that I saved $500+ from buying an equivalent caliber trumpet of a different brand (That's you, Bach).
In all, if you are looking to buy a professional horn, this should be a serious consideration. It is easily comparable to (and may even be better than) other trumpets from the leading brands. The lower price is only an added bonus.
Jupiter scored with this one. I'm a fan!
