Decent sousaphone

These horns are definitely for schools on a budget. The intonation is alright, as is the sound and projection. The brass is surprisingly prone to dents and damage considering the weight of the horn. The website has them listed at 28 pounds, but I weighed our horns and they were closer to 35. Ill most likely send these horns home with students and continue to use our 20k's.

Horrible

Stuffy, bad pitch, horrible sound, feels like playing into a tin can. The only method of projection on this horn is blating. I have been marching sousaphone for 7 years, and have played on many different brands, I must say that this was the worst(I have played 15 different examples of this horn). This being the absolute worst. Save yourself the time and frustration and go with a King at a similar price, or if your pocketbook is a bit heftier, then go with Dynatsy.

Great for the Price!

I have been playing tuba/sousaphone for 4 years and thins year i purchased a Jupiter through my school and its great. the lacquer is extremely nice! the case is one of my favorite features and it also comes with all of the equipment. the only down side is it needs a lot of warming up. you need a good 30 min of warmups before the great tone quality shows! good luck!
