Why Buy

Description
Robust and handy This new ultrasmall, extremely compact saxophone stand, the "Saxxy", provides support for Eb alto and Bb tenor saxophones. The wonderful thing about it is that, when folded up in the velour bag that comes with it, the stand can be stored and transported in the bell of the saxophone.

This stand may seem "pricey" but don't let that keep you from buying/using one. I carry my Selmer Mk VI in a "flight" case and with this stand there's no "where's my stand" panic at the last minute before the gig. Support is very sturdy and set-up/tear-down is fast and easy. Go for it!

I have yet to encounter a better stand. It holds my horn better than the Belmonte stand i have been using for years. Love it!! And the portability is second to none. Fits right in the bell, or in your pocket for that matter!!!

I second the comments made earlier -- this stand performs as advertised. The only slightly bothersome quirk is that you usually have to put your foot on one of the legs of the stand to keep it from coming along for the ride when you pick up your horn - especially if your horn has been sitting in it for a while. This, though, is a testament to how well it grips your horn. It may not look it - but it's pretty sturdy. I had a guy bump my alto pretty good one time and it didn't tip over. If you like to travel light and/or free up a hand from toting a stand - get this one. You will like it. Besides - there's always the fun of handing it to someone who's never seen one before and asking them to set it up... always good for a laugh.

"Great for the sax/clarinet player!"

I play both sax and clarinet. On gigs where I play both, I bring my saxxy stand to hold my sax when I'm playing clarinet. When I switch to sax, I just flip it over to where one leg is sticking up, and use it as a clarinet stand. It is sturdy either way, so you wouldn't have to carry around two instrument stands.

"Very portable, not great for doubling"

I have had this stand for alto for years. It's strength is that it is the smallest, most portable sax stand I have ever used. It is very easy to carry and very easy to set up. I just leave it in a pocket of my alto case and it always there when I want it. The stand works fine when I take my time to place the sax in it. However, I don't feel it is stable enough to use for doubling where I might have to quickly grab a sax or worse, quickly "drop" (place) the sax in a stand. I think a quick grab could result in the stand getting knocked over, and a quick drop could lead to disaster. I use it when I am either playing an alto only gig, (so I can put it down on breaks) or when I have no fast instrument switches. A good stand for holding a sax, but I would not use it for fast doubling switches.
