Very handy stand, BUT ...

Comments about K&M 15270 In-Bell Trombone Stand:

This stand will hold any tenor trombone quite safely ... for some time. The problem is that over time the foldable legs will bend near the joints, causing the central bolt to touch the ground. And that is when the stand becomes unstable. I am surprised that a famed manufacturer like K&M hasn't been able to resolve this relatively minor flaw that nevertheless ruins the merits of an otherwise splendidly clever design!

Good concept, will replace the two I wore out; some advice:

Comments about K&M 15270 In-Bell Trombone Stand:

I've had two of these for a number of years, 6 or 7 I think. Was playing in a group where I needed 2 or 3 trombones on stage so economizing on space was important. Couple observations: the wobbly-legs problem is easily fixed by putting some cork or similar material in the "slot" halfway out the folded-out leg. This raises the center post off the floor and absorbs shock. Very sturdy stand after this easy mod, and holds my double-trigger bass trombone just fine. I used model-railroad railbed from the hobby store. Also makes good mute cork, BTW. Unfortunately, if stored all the time in the trombone bell in the case, the upper (black)tube will rust, which is why I need to replace mine.

Love the stand...but

Comments about K&M 15270 In-Bell Trombone Stand:

I have used this stand for a number of years now (7 or 8 I think). I love it except: the main post corroded causing trouble setting it up. This also lead to breaking it while trying to set it up. But after the years I have owned it, it is the best in-bell stand I have seen or owned. I am about to another one. I have used this with large bore tenors (.547) with f-triggers.

Comments about K&M 15270 In-Bell Trombone Stand:

Not recommended. I've owned one of these for about five years. I never trust that the stand will support the trombone. Not good for any scenario.

Not a sturdy trombone stand

Comments about K&M 15270 In-Bell Trombone Stand:

I bought this because I travel and needed something that support my horn and not be bulky. This not either- it weighs a lot and will not hold a regular F trigger trombone. The three legs do not provide enough stability to hold your instrument. I bought one and now have dents because it would not hold the trombone upright.

Great product: sturdy, compact, relatively lightweight

Comments about K&M 15270 In-Bell Trombone Stand:

I got this stand last Christmas and it is absolutely great. It confidently holds the instrument and is very adjustable. Best of all, it fits in any case thanks to the compact design, allowing it to be stored in the bell. It does take a bit longer for set up and tear down than a standard stand, but the interest of all the other musicians in how it folds up and the economical use of bell space is well worth the little extra time and money. Works with both large and small bore, easily holds my Conn 88H, and can even hold up my buddy's bass bone without breaking too much of a sweat. And of course, being a K&M, you can tell it's made to last. I would without doubt recommend this stand to any and all bone players.
