OVERVIEW

Copper Bell!

The Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn features a .421-inch bore that offers superb intonation throughout the entire range of the instrument. The rich, mellow sound of the 6-1/2-inch, one-piece, hand hammered copper bell makes this instrument ideal for jazz and all-around use. This flugelhorn is designed to exceed the expectations of the most exacting professional artist. The Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn includes a deluxe gladstone hard shell case and mouthpiece and is available in lacquer (1525-1) finish. Silver (1525-2) finish available by special order.

The Model 1525 Signature Series Flugelhorn is the flagship of the Kanstul line, and is considered "the one" by many players, including artists for whom a distinctive sound is paramount. Professionals who play them for studio sessions find that they are not only outstanding solo instruments, they blend very well with others.
The .421" bore provides the traditional sound and playability of a smaller bore flugel and has impeccable intonation. Although a 3rd slide trigger is standard; most players find a little need to use it. The "straight through" valve block gives the 1525 a very easy and open blow with minimal resistance. A one-piece hand-hammered 6 1/2" diameter copper bell comes standard yet there is nothing standard about it! This bell responds quickly and helps the player produce a very warm, rich and full-bodied tone while still exhibiting great projection, and no sacrifice of playability in the higher register.
The Model 1525 is an unequaled performer for jazz and all-around use. A Zigmant Kanstul Signature horn!

Comments about Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I've been playing a Kanstul-made F. Besson MAHA flugel for a number of years. Got a Kanstul 1525 about two months ago. Much easier to play than the MAHA, especially above the staff. I'm not an expert player, but I can certainly appreciate the difference. The 1525 is a great horn.

Great Horn

Comments about Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I tried several similarly priced horns at the South Bend facility (which sadly is permanently closing in 2 weeks), and the 1525 was head and shoulders above the others. Great tone, easy to play, cool case, and it looks great.

I've had one for 8 years

Comments about Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I play Schilke trumpets, and when I needed a fluegel, I asked my contact there at the time, Steve Daniels, to recommend one. I knew it wouldn't be a Schilke, because they don't make one (the one they offered many many years ago was horrible). To replace my Leblanc fluegel, he said: "Try the Kanstul; it plays itself!!" He was right. I have used this professionally for 8 years now, and it has proven itself over and over again as the mellowest sounding fluegel, while retaining pitch accuracy as you ascend above the staff (a big issue w/ most fluegels). It is well made, and Zig Kanstul's designs are well proven over the past 30 or more years. Look for Arturo Sandoval and Charlie Davis playing one, as well as many other top professionals.

AMAZING FLUGEL!!!

Comments about Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I played many different flugels before I purchased this horn (Antone Cortois, Getzen, Yamaha, etc.) and none could compare to this horn. This flugel horn is simply beautiful. It has amazing response for a flugel. With this response you don't lose the darkness and warmth you are looking for in a flugel horn. I would recommend this flugel to anyone!!!

The most gorgeous horn I have ever played

Comments about Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I was looking to buy a flugelhorn for a while and I tried about 10 different brands. I was told Conn made a good one, so I tried a few of those and I wasn't impressed at all. I tried a Bach, and it sounded nice but nothing special. I used to play on a Yamaha, but it was not even an okay horn. Then I finally tried this horn and it blew me away! I have never heard a horn produce such a dark, soft, velvety tone. The valves on it are some of the best I've encountered on any horn. Some people say they don't need to use the 3rd valve trigger, but that's not true at all; it is completely necessary once you get below the staff. Otherwise the intonation is dead on. If you are in the market for a new flugelhorn, I don't think there is anyway you'll find a better horn. I play on a Curry mouthpiece which works perfect with this horn. I also use a Bob Reeves, but there are shank size issues. Buy this horn! You will not regret it!

love at first sight and at first play

Comments about Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I love this horn! I have had my Kanstul for about 3 years. During the time period I was contemplating upgrading my flugel and researching different flugels, Kanstul was one of the brands that I had interest. Just by the picture of this horn I was taken in by its beauty. I further researched other buyers' comments about this flugel and other reliable brands, but came back to the Kanstul. I have been very happy with my horn. The valve action is very smooth. Even though it has a 3rd valve trigger, I rarely need to use it. This horn has nice centeredness no matter what range. It has a very dark and sultry sound. It is a gorgeous flugel. One thing to keep in mind, is to be even more concious when handling, especially in quick horn changes, as the copper bell is very sensitive.

The Only Choice

Comments about Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn:

A colleague in Army Band Sydney first recommended this horn to me (thanks Craig) and told me, "If you want to get a horn from the factory and not worry about how it's going to play, and have a guaranteed great sound, the Kanstul Signature is the only way to go." How right the man was. As soon as my new horn arrived at the band room, I ripped open the cardboard box, opened the case and there it was, the flugelhorn whose reputation had preceded itself. Initially, the Kanstul is a great looking horn, (sturdy case w/combination lock, great protecton inside etc. ) but my first note I played through the horn, I just fell in love with the rich warmth of the sound. So now, I pass on my friends sentiments, "If you want a flugelhorn guaranteed to sound great, straight from the factory floor, Kanstul is the only choice!" Many thanks to wwbw for their fantastic customer service as well.

Best Flugelhorn I've Ever Played

Comments about Kanstul 1525 Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I have owned a Yamaha Professional Flugelhorn (during the Chuck Mangione era) and play tested the Shew 6310Z as well as the LeBlanc Sandoval Model. This horn blows them ALL away in my opinion. This Kanstul is very beautiful with the copper finish; the valves are superior; the intonation is dead on and the tone is very dark and rich ... just what you want in a flugel. Kanstul is very consistent with their horns so you can order this horn with the utmost confidence. I own this horn and will never need another flugelhorn.
