If you are looking for an alto sax under 1500 bucks that has amazing sound quality and is easy to play, the Keilwerth ST90 is the only horn you should invest in, and is such a great instrument it is worth using as a pro. The key mechanics are fantastic, much smoother than those that Yamaha makes for students and intermediate level musicians. I bought mine almost 6 years ago and it was perfect right out of the box. In order to get the tone I wanted I have invested in a few mouthpieces from WWBW including a Vandoren which was quickly replaced by an Otto Link hard rubber piece and then a metal Otto Link one earlier this year for a bigger thicker tone for playing harmony and stuff, I still use the other Link for lead solo work as it as a smoother and richer tone with this horn. So mouthpieces do impact the tone drastically on this horn, you get much more bottom end and really easy blowing out of a wide metal piece versus a brighter sound out of a smaller chambered rubber one that requires a bit more air.
