This mouthpiece helped my low range so it is extremely strong and controlled. My upper register is slightly weaker with this mouthpiece. I don't have issues with temperature variations either.
I was very much a critic when these first came out. I wondered on on earth you cold get a good tone out of cheap lightweight plastic like you good solid metal. I stayed away for a while.
Then, one of my friends in band bought one for their t-bone. They said that the performance was near identical to that of the metal one. We did a test, and you really cannot hear a difference unless you are in a big concert hall listening for overtones.
I then ordered a 3C and 1.5C. I don't really like the 3C, and it is a little bit different than my Bach 3C. How ever, I love the 1.5C. It is a great mouthpiece and when on the field in marching band, there is no difference. I also love that when in the stands it doesn't get cold. I used to have to hold my mouthpiece to keep it warm, but this is so nice. It never gets cold, and it really never heats up.
So overall, I think it a great thing for Marching Band (where high notes and a loud tone are preferred to perfectly tuned overtones). I don't recommend it for symphonic band, because it is near impossible to blend with your section.
Also, they're cheap. If you don't like it, you're not really at a loss.
This is a surprising mouthpiece! It's comfortable and plays very well, much better than I thought a plastic mouthpiece would. I haven't had a chance to use it with an ensemble yet, but it is definitely a great practice piece. Since I rarely play outdoors, temperature isn't a factor, but the "Glow in the Dark" feature should make it easier to find on a dark bandstand after a break. Plus, if you have one of those color lacquered horns, a matching mouthpiece would really be a kick!
