I've played the King 608F for 3 1/2 years now and it has never let me down. I got it after only playing trombone on a rental for a year and I was going to be moving so I had to turn the rental in. So instead of wasting money on another rental or student trombone, I bought this one knowing it would last me much longer. I went from a beginner player who didn't care much for the instrument to now I am playing pre-college level groups at New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. while I'm in 11th grade. I've always thought it had a superb tone and performed much better than any equivalent trombone from other brands. It plays as well as some professional models do, for a lot cheaper.
I'm a euphonist in high school who picked up trombone for jazz band and for show choir band. I was originally given a poor quality student trombone that had crazy intonation problems. Since some of my jazz music (3rd part)and show choir music required use of an F attachment, I was re-issued this trombone. I instantly loved it. The larger bore made it better for me to adapt from euphonium to trombone, the slide action is amazing and the instrument handles low notes very well. Valve is easy to oil, and using the F attachment is a lifesaver, I had a fast lick in my show choir music (High F, C, D, F) and using the trigger to get to C made the lick sound very clean and it saved us points in competition. I've also done improvisation solos and many street gigs with this instrument, and I'll be part of an ensemble playing the Star Spangled banner at a DCI show this week. My only complaint is when I first used it there was a rattling sound in the valve, but a quick visit to a repair shop resolved that issue. The case for the trombone is also great. A bit on the heavy side, but you can fit any accessories (oil, tuning slide grease, tuner) and multiple mouthpieces in it. I love this instrument and I'll be sad when I have to return it to the school. I hope to purchase this instrument or a comparable model when I'm in the market for a good personal trombone.
