Good, solid stand fits low C bass

Musical Experience: played through grad school, took 20 years off, started again 4 years ago
Style of music: chamber music, symphonic band, community theatre

This is a good, solid stand. It's heavy, but it needs to be to support the bass. The angle adjustment and padding at the top insure that the stand is not supporting the bass by one key. Note that the stand does not fit in the K&M 10711 stand bag.

This stand is much more stable than the Performance Gear Bass Clarinet / Bassoon Stand, which I tried (and found to fall over at the slightest breeze or just standing in the same room). It is worth the extra five bucks. It is also a bargain compared to many other stands of equal caliber for hundreds more. I would suggest another one if you're very picky about looks though, because its metallic frame stands out in my wood-based music room. Another fault is durability. Very small quantities of water can make it rust. However, it is great for students who are on moderate budgets.

I purchased this stand last year, after borrowing and trying out several different stands from my friends. This one is more stable than any of the others I have tried, yet is open enough for the quickest horn changes. That is an absolute must in theater work, when you are often switching horns in just a few measures at the same time as you are making a page turn.
