Kustom '72 Coupe
Tapping into it's colorful 1960s and '70s-era guitar amps, Kustom redefines the term "Tuck n' Roll" for a new generation of players with its road-ready Coupe Series. The all-tube models, which are made in America using U.S. and imported parts, offer a fresh take on Kustom's patented visual asthetics while cranking out a variety of ballsy, tube amp tones.
Designed by amp guru James Brown - now Kustom's chief engineer - the '72 Coupe utilizes 12AX7 preamp and 6L6 power tube platforms and is rated at 72 watts. Technically speaking, it uses a self-biased power amp design in tandem with a secondary, partially fixed-bias technique. This produces an amplifier with the best of both worlds; self-biased reliability and the increased power of a fixed bias design.
Drawing on its heritage, Kustom teamed up with U.S. speaker manufacturer Eminence to produce a driver exclusively for the Coupe Series. The result is the KEI (Kustom-Eminence Integrated) Turbo 12 speaker. With its distinctive aluminum dust cap, the Turbo 12 is a modern interpretation of a vintage speaker design that gives players a taste of the original speaker's unique tonal properties, which were great for clearer tones, while successfully handling more modern, high-gain sounds as well.
The concept behind the Coupe Series was to take the best elements of vintage Kustom amps and include modern details such as channel switching, higher gain, an effects loop and high-quality, double-sided printed circuit boards to ensure that every amp sounds the same. From sparkling clean to stinging blues licks and fat, roaring rock sounds, the Coupe Series does it all. Offering boutique amp quality at production amp prices, you owe it to yourself to test drive a Kustom Coupe!
