Laskey French Horn Mouthpieces
Development of the French Horn Mouthpiece Line
Years of making custom French horn mouthpieces for players from around the world has helped determine what players want and need to make a difference in their sound. These features are now available to all players in the form of the Laskey standard product line of French horn mouthpieces. A special thanks to the many professional players from around the country who helped in the development of a concise and exceptional line of French horn mouthpieces consisting of fthe Laskey sizes.A Unique Rim Contour the Laskey
The Laskey standard French horn mouthpiece line has a unique rim contour. There is definition to the inside diameter and yet the roundness of the rim shape allows for easy movement, as well as a high degree of control and flexibility. Many French horn players feel a personal affinity with a rim that they have played for many years. There is a certain degree of "comfort" in having the same rim on the Laskey face. This rim will not only offer comfort, it will also provide a higher degree of accuracy, flexibility and improved intonation.French Horn Cup Sizes
The Laskey cup selection was determined by what are the most popular sizes being used by players today and offers optimum performance. Laskey mouthpieces are available in the following three cup sizes. (Other shallower mouthpieces will not create the proper balance needed). All cup sizes are made with a standard throat size of .182"/("14")/4,62mm.Cup Size G
This is the Laskey standard cup and is offered in all sizes. In the Laskey tests, this cup provided the best mix of tone and color to virtually every player. While slightly shallower than many cups we have seen players use, its performance outshines them all.Cup Size F
A slightly deeper and more funnel cup than the G cup. It will still have the precision of attack that the G cup offers, but with a slightly thicker and rounder sound. A little deeper than the traditional "Farkas" cup.Cup Size E
Deep, yet with a degree of brilliance that is not usually found in a cup this deep. This cup is not only ideal for 2nd and 4th horn, but also has enough brilliance to be used on some of the higher horn parts.Laskey Numbering System
As French horn players seem to use the metric system to describe the size of the mouthpieces, the Laskey line represents the metric measurement, but the first number is dropped .

Very Nice

I got a 75G and it has quickly become my favorite mouthpiece. The rim has just the right bite, the cup isn't deep but has a nice, full sound, and I feel comfortable with it from the lowest lows to the highest highs. Mouthpieces are personal, but Laskey G cups and J cups seem to be gaining popularity very quickly, so it might be the best place to start.

725G: Beautiful Sound, Excellent High Range

By

I ordered the 725G, in search of a mouthpiece sounding identical to the Schilke 30, but with a bigger inner diameter. Most people say that 75G is the best size, and I agree that the 725G is a bit too small for overall playing, especially when you are required to play ff. Advantages: If you like the sound of "Farkas-style" mouthpieces, the Laskey G cup is about as close as you'll get. The amount of "ring" is perfect, making the sound neither dull nor shrill. The rim is very comfortable yet flexibility is also excellent. The mouthpiece in general is very easy to play, and the high register sounds gorgeous and is secure. Disadvantages: I found it difficult to articulate clearly on this mouthpiece, and note accuracy suffered slightly, though the latter may have more to do with getting used to setting up on a thinner, rounder rim. The mouthpiece also edges out relatively quickly, and the maximum volume is a bit limiting for overall playing. If you're not careful, the sound can become too bright and shrill because the cup is rather small and shallow. A bigger (75G) or deeper (725F) mouthpiece may fix this problem. Finally, the low register does suffer some, but not in proportion to the improvement in the high register. Overall: Laskey mouthpieces are a bit more expensive than big-name manufacturers, but the extra cost is absolutely worth it. You'll get superior consistency and amazing tone quality. It really felt like a better mouthpiece in general. As long as you choose the correct size mouthpiece for your embouchure, I am fully convinced you will love Laskeys.
