Comments about Leblanc 2202 Alto Clarinet Ligature:
I have been playing clarinet for almost 10 years, and until now I have never encountered a ligature this useless. The ligature IS NOT REMOTELY SHAPED LIKE A MOUTHPIECE! Rather than grip the mouthpiece to hold the reed in place, this ligature shoots off when the screws are tightened. I tried bending it carefully, but that didn't solve the 2 main problems: 1) It doesn't have a conical taper like a mouthpiece, so when clamped down, the upper screw isn't tight enough and the lower screw is under tremendous pressure that I'm sure would break it in a few weeks at best. 2)And worst of all, it doesn't have a groove (underneath the screw area) to fit the shape of the reed, so it couldn't properly clamp a reed even if it did have a conical taper. Do yourself a HUGE favor and do not buy this ligature.
